Happy New Year, Friends!
Now that 2023 is here let’s look at goal setting and resolutions. I like to focus on self-motivation and improvement. I hope this post can inspire you to find your goals for 2023 as we look at my New Year’s Resolutions. To hold myself accountable, I was thinking of starting a weekly segment called Monday’s Inspiration, focusing on self-improvement, health, and wellness. I like the idea of creating goals no matter what time of year it is, but I love celebrating the New Year with a fresh start.
How to Set New Year Goals for 2023
It depends on what you want in life. Usually, around this time of year, people look at self-improvement. It is because we just got out of three months of fun, food, and leisure. It makes sense that people want to put the fun to rest and get back into healthier routines. Today, I went shopping, and I saw a lot of new items. All of these items were focused on New Year’s Resolutions people like to make. These items could be put into categories like Spa, Workouts, Meal preps, organizing, and self-care. I will look at all these categories for my goal-setting for 2023!
Drink More Water
Basic and standard, but it is a healthy habit to start. In my twenties, I drank nothing but water. Now I find it difficult for some reason. I have three 40oz Stanly tumblers to help with my water discipline. To get the right amount of water daily, I need to fill it up twice a day. I am sure everyone is well aware of the benefits of being hydrated. Not only does it help your skin, but it also helps your organs and other bodily functions. I love adding lemon and other veggies and fruits to my water to add flavor.
Find a Consistent Workout Routine
With my busy schedule at work, it is impossible to work out. Today, I was talking to my sister about her health journey. It is important to work out 3-5 days a week. Cardio is great, but an incline walk on the Treadmill for 20-30 mins a day will help burn fat. We have a cable machine at my gym, and I bought some amazon items to help with my workouts like these ankle straps & this cable machine kickback ankle strap.
Meal Prep with New Healthy Recipes
If you are trying to lose weight, your eating habits play a huge part in your success. I meal prep because I need to bring my lunch to work. I try to stick to healthier foods. Just a disclaimer, I am not certified or an expert, but I have a plan to enhance my eating habits to fit my lifestyle and needs. The goal is to eat fewer simple carbohydrates and add more complex carbs. I also want to be more mindful and pay attention to my sugar intake. Most days, I work an easy day where I do a ton of sitting and standing, so I need to eat fewer carbohydrates and more vegetables and protein. I like using these glass containers for my meal prep.
Meditate
Mediation can help you regulate your thoughts and control your emotions and anxiety. I believe most people deal with anxiety, and we must learn to self-soothe. I used to practice meditation with an app called Head Space, and it is so relaxing. You learn more about your mind and body connection. Sunday Spa Day
Self-care is about taking a day for yourself by giving yourself a little at-home facial, painting your nails, whitening your teeth, and doing things that make you relaxed and happy. It is known that reading helps you in various ways. It strengthens your focus and communication skills. I usually love reading non-fiction self-help books about leadership. This year I plan to get more into fiction books. I have Harry Potter books and Colleen Hoover books that I need to start reading. I used to read a lot of fiction books in middle school and some as a young adult. When I find a series I love, I must read them all. The trick is to make time for it. I would love to start a habit of reading before going to bed every night.
Revamp My Living Space
Living in a space that is not full of clutter is essential. Clutter can stress you out, and it becomes hard to stay organized. I need to be organized with my career; sure many of you can relate. I will buy less and purge more because we may be moving sometime this year. More to follow on this topic.
