We have come to love the local craft beers of central Texas. One of our favorites is Barrow Brewing Company, located in the charming town Salado. This brewery offers tasty, refreshing craft beers and an unforgettable experience. The charm of Salado, and its community also caught my attention. I enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere! Today, I will share my experience with you!

Their local craft beer is so good. I suggest you order a flight so you can try different beers. I love the Lagersaurus TEX, Creek Don’t Rise, and the Golden Ale. There is another beer that I enjoy, but it is seasonal. The Swimming Hole is another tasty beer offered during the spring months. It is important to note that some of these beers are seasonal.

You can take your refreshing beer and explore the farmers market on the weekends. Cool off in the creek; the water is clear and cold even during the summer. Enjoy the festivities and the food that is all located on the property. Once, we met the founder of Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Anne Beiler. She was selling her cookbook and giving a speech at the brewery.

The Food Trucks

The two food trucks on the property are permanently there. Both food trucks are so good. Happy Pizza Co. has tasty pizzas that feed two and a pretzel with beer cheese for a snack. Bobbyque is another good place, try their Chicago style tater tots!

Explore the town of Salado

After we eat and get some delicious craft beer, we like to walk through the historic town of Salado. There are different boutiques and shops. Salado is always a fun visit. We like taking our books to read while we sip and wait for food.

I had a lovely two-week vacation and returned to work last week. We are getting a little break from instructing and pick up new students next week. I recently got orders to move so, I am also focused on spending our last months in Texas with family. I want to visit as many places as possible before we move.

For a week trip, I prefer to bring a carry-on suitcase to avoid lost luggage and mishaps. This means I need to carry essentials and pack lightly. Here is a guide to plan for cute outfits during your vacation so you can look your absolute best.

When embarking on a week-long trip with a carry-on suitcase, strategic planning of your travel outfits becomes crucial. Begin by selecting versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched, allowing you to create different looks without overpacking. I am going to Universal Studios Orlando, Florida, and it will be primarily hot during the day and cool at night. Knowing Florida, there is always a tiny chance for rain, so I packed this rain poncho I bought off Amazon. I also packed some rubber sandals so my shoes and socks don’t get wet.

Create a Packing List

An organized packing list will ensure you think of everything that must go with you. Bring eight pairs of underwear and socks if you stay for seven days; extra is better. List out all toiletries, medications, and essentials. Don’t forget ID cards, passports, and tickets.

Plan Travel Outfits

There are two ways I do this. One, I take layout photos of the outfits I am planning, and I organize them on my phone.
Next, I make a day-to-day list of all the outfits I plan to wear and what day I will wear them.

Efficient packing can create room for all the items you must bring in your carry-on luggage. Here are some tips for making things fit.

Use packing cubes. I love these from Amazon
Roll your clothes to save some space, and it helps with wrinkles
Use all empty spaces for small items. Stuff your socks in your shoes.

Summer Reads Book Review 2023

Here is my first book review on the blog! Reading books is such a trend this year. My little sister started following the trend and got me into reading this season. These books are summer themed. I found a few Must-reads that I would like to share with you in case you are looking for books with a summer vibe.

Book Review: The Summer I Turned Pretty, Jenny Han

This series by Jenny Han is a must-read. The first book is good, but it is not my favorite of the series. In this book, you get to know the characters and younger Belly. Belly’s Mom and her childhood friend Susannah bring their kids to the Beach House every summer. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad, the oldest, and Susanna’s boys are both starting to notice her. Belly doesn’t know what to do with the attention she is getting from boys. I feel like she is young and making all the bad decisions. If you’ve seen the show on Amazon, the book is a little different. Plus, the book gives you more details. It is a lovely story! Gives nostalgic vibes, and I recommend this book!

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han, Book Review

Again, this book is part of a series that is a must-read. I love the second book more. I recommend these books if you are looking for a good beach read. In this book, there is a love triangle. I have to say I am team Jeremiah during this book because he treats Belly so much better than Conrad treats her. Conrad pushes people away and doesn’t know how to deal with his emotions. The Fisher boys are dealing with a lot in this book. They are navigating through so much, and now the possibility of losing the beach house. Belly still loves Conrad, but he acts like he doesn’t want her. Jeremiah reveals his feelings for Belly, and things become more complicated because she has to choose.

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald

I took a break from the series I was reading and went with a classic book that I loved and read in high school. This book is about style, love, class, and jazz. It takes place in the summer. I love the Jazz Age and stories in that era. Jay Gatsby was a poor man who lived life by trying to get ahead and lived out his hopes and dreams until he met a girl. Gatsby fell hopelessly in love. After the war, he mysteriously made a ton of money and bought a mansion in West Egg, Long Island. Gatsby threw huge, lavish parties, hoping to find Daisy Buchanan again. He reached out to Nick Caraway- (the narrator of the story), who happens to be Daisy’s cousin. It is a tragic but beautiful love story. I recommend it if you haven’t read this one yet.

We’ll Always Have Summer, Jenny Han

Another must-read! I was team Jeremiah, but after seeing that Belly still wanted Conrad and he came around from his stubborn ways, now I am team Conrad. Jeremiah and Belly are in college together. Summer is starting, and they decide to get married. They plan to be married at the Beach House before Summer is over. Belly is full of Angst and will not listen to her parents or anyone who tries to talk her out of rushing it. Belly knows it is Conrad that she wants. I love how this book ties this series together. It is 100% recommended.

Happy Place, Emily Henry Book Review

Okay, this book has so many good reviews, and so many girls are fans of Emily Henry. I wasn’t obsessed with this book and it’s second chance for romance trope. So much did not make sense to me. I was annoyed by Wyn and Harriet. It seems like Wyn is toying with Harriet. Harriet is a brain surgeon, and she is going to her Best friend’s beach house for their annual trip. Wyn and Harriet broke up five months before but did not tell their friend group. Harriet decides to inform her friends. Wyn stops her because Sabrina has some news. It was still a good read, but at times it drags on. I gave it a 3/5 stars.

It has been scorching hot, but we are heading into fall.
Investing in pieces you can wear during summer and fall as we transition is wise. You want an outfit that will keep you comfortable during fluctuating temperatures while sporting the season’s trends.

Nsale Summer Outfits to Consider

I provided shoppable ideas to help you put together transitional outfits. All of it is still a part of the Nsale.

Consider a skirt or a lightweight dress with a denim jacket or a cardigan. You can pair this with some booties or with some flats.

You can wear a short sleeve blouse and a pair of your favorite jeans, with a moto jacket or a sweater when it gets cold enough.

Wear a midi skirt with a cami, and throw a chunky sweater over your camisole when it gets cold.

You can always accessorize with hats and scarves.

Life Lately

It is almost the end of another cycle as an instructor. We have been doing a lot in this heatwave. We pick up another class at the end of the week.
