Today, I am sharing Designer Bags for less!  Who doesn’t want a piece of luxury in their closet?!? I am inspired by designer bags but they are too much for my income. A girl with my salary needs to be smart in choosing a designer handbag. Owning a couple of these bags definitely adds to your personal style and is worth the investment if you pick timeless bags that will be in style for years and years to come.

Designer Bags For Less

Currently, there are two websites I like to check in with for consignment designer bags:  The RealReal and Fashionphile.  Last fall, I stumbled upon through website through a friend @fifteenminutestillflawless – definitely look her up, follow her! She has great style! Both of these websites are absolutely useful in finding the bag of your dreams.

The RealReal

Pro: This website shows you the original retail price and the price the seller is selling the bag for so that you can compare.

They have a wide selection of designer handbags.

Offers photos of the bag plus imperfections.

A detailed description of the bag’s condition.

Cons: No Layaway.

Fashionphile 

Pro:  There is a wide selection of designer handbags.

Offers photos of the bag plus imperfections.

A detailed description of the bag’s condition.

They offer a layaway system where you pay for the bag in full within 60 days.

Cons: I’ve noticed that if a particular bag is no longer being sold at a designer retail store, the seller will try to sell the bag higher than the original retail price.

Personal Experience with Designer Bags 

I have bought both my bags through the Fashionphile website. Their layaway system is amazing! I compare prices before I commit. For example, I am interested in a used Luis Vuitton Pochette Félicie That is going for $1,050 on the Fashionphile website. I looked up the price on the Louis Vuitton website and a brand new bag would go for $1,030. On the Realreal website, this bag is going for as low as $945. If a bag is only $100 less, I figure it would be better to buy a brand new one.

My Purchases

My Gucci Soho Disco leather bag was originally $1190 at Nordstrom. I bought it from Fashionphile in great condition for $895. The Luis Vuitton Sarah Wallet in this post is original $700 and I paid $430

Dupes!

A hack I like to look for in designer bags, particularly trendy designer bags; I hunt for dupes. A recent dupe I found is this Ark bag made from bamboo. This bag is very much like the Cult Gaia Ark bag.
