I started blogging eight years ago, on March 30th of, 2015. It is so hard to believe that so much time has flown by. I remember the first day I decided to start blogging. I took a picture of myself using a tripod and the camera timer for a boutique adventure, and the rest is history. Over the years, I have acquired different skills that involved content creation.
3 Things About Blogging
Consistency is the most important thing. This is how you build your audience. You want people to return to your blog and look for more content you have created.
Pay Attention to SEO. You want people to find your blog, so you must rank high in the search engine results. For the longest time, I did not understand SEO. This past year, I decided to take a coaching class that gave me so much information on SEO. Use relevant keywords and meta descriptions, and optimize your website’s structure.
Networking and the Struggles
Networking is an essential part of blogging. This one has been a challenge for me. No one ever tells you that making friends as an adult gets harder as you get older. I have made so many friends in the Military. I have my two best friends, and I was lucky to have spent three years with them in North Carolina. None of my friends blog, though they were always willing to help me out by taking my photos. I move to Texas, which has a huge blogging community with many networking opportunities. I have tried, but it has been hard for me to connect with other bloggers. I will discuss this more on my IG stories this weekend, so tune in!!
Army Life
What makes me different from most Fashion Bloggers is the fact that I am on Active Duty in the Army. I think I have met two girls doing the same things I was doing, but it is extremely rear. Both of those girls got out of the Army to pursue full-time blogging. I always knew I was going to retire from the Military. The demands of my job can be overwhelming, and the operations tempo can be very high. As stated above, to be successful, you need to be consistent. It is hard to build a community without it. I also don’t think Army and Fashion Blogging go together at all. Most women cannot relate to my work-life content, and wearing inspiring outfits every day doesn’t happen for me.
Why Do I continue Blogging?
I use this platform as a diary while I share my current inspirations. I love sharing the new outfits I put together or the new shoes I have found. Usually, when I am out in public, I get complimented on the items I wear, so I know I have a great fashion sense. My girlfriends and sister-in-law have asked me for advice on what to wear.
Blogging is a fun, creative outlet; if you are interested in how I started, read this post here! In this journey, I have received multiple collaborations with brands that I love. Here’s to 8 years and the next five years while I am in the Army.

Yes blogging has its challenges for sure. But if you enjoy then that is enough of reason to keep doing it. Through blogging I gained new skills, I made new friends and I attend events I never would have if I did not have a blog. I hope the SEO class helps and keep it up!!
