Similar Stripe Tee | Cute OTK Boots | Similar Coat | ilymix Beanie |
It is still the beginning of December and it has been so eventful. I love to get out and travel, especially in South Korea. Unfortunately, I am too busy with work to take advantage of the opportunities here. This past weekend I went to see the Demilitarized Zone and Choenan with its huge Buddha statue at the Gakwonsa Temple.
In these pictures, I am wearing a Purple Peridot Scarf and necklace. You can check out their really cute accessories by clicking on the link located in the sidebar. Also save 10% with code: Purple10. I am also wearing an Old Navy Beanie in the color Mauve but they are all sold out so I linked a similar beanie with ilymix.com. Use code: cutebrandik20 to get 20% off anything you purchase through them. They have a lot of really cute beanies!
Fashion Blogging:
This post is a continuation of my blog post ‘Fashion Blogging For Beginners: The Mistakes I Made Starting My Fashion Blog.’ In this post, I am going to talk about the following mistakes I made:
-I did not network with other fashion bloggers.
-I did not use very many social media outlets.
First of All
The girls I follow inspire me and I pretty much learn from them. One thing that I wish I had done from the beginning was to network. When I first started posting back in the spring of 2015, I did not have very many followers. I started doing a style challenge to gain attention and it led me to a few lovely ladies who I still follow today (@kandidlykim and @chele_clark to name a couple). Some of these ladies were willing to network with me, which was lucky for me because it opened the door to networking through them with other Fashion Bloggers. I am very shy in person and I allowed myself to be shy online. Not helpful at all! These fashion babes know that if you scratch their back they will starch yours too. Meaning, if you leave comments and like their pictures, they will do the same for you. It is still very hard to force myself out of my shell and socialize however, I have met some amazing ladies by messaging them and commenting on their pictures. I have gained more inspiration and I learned some techniques from them. I recently joined a group called Style Collective. They have gatherings at various times throughout the United States and I am looking forward to getting back and meeting with other talented bloggers to share ideas and thoughts. Networking is the key! You need other talented ladies who understand the struggles of blogging and someone will always have brilliant ideas to share. Collaboration is vital to success.
Social Media Outlets
From the beginning of my blogging, I did not have very many social media outlets. My jam is Instagram and my website. This is still true today, however; I have learned something important about the need of having various platforms. Different social media outlets will help you get recognized but only if you are keeping up with all of them. If it sounds exhausting, that’s because it is. If you are trying to get affiliated with a program like RewardStyle, like I am; one of the rejection letters I got mentioned that I needed to have more than a few social media platforms to be successful. I don’t know how necessary this is. I have seen girls affiliated who don’t own a website at all. I do know for a fact that what affiliated programs are looking for is the quality of your engagement with other people online. The more followers you have, the more likely you are going to sell something.
